Director Ram Bala first noticed Babu while accompanying a pal to the filming of the comedy television series Lollu Sabha. Ram Bala was intrigued by Babu’s odd appearance and build, so he asked if he wanted to be an actor and eventually signed him up as a junior artiste. Babu was a production assistant on the series. He worked as an assistant director for two years, assisting in the writing of several episodes. Srinivasan Babu is his father’s name. On February 5, 2020, he married Manju Bhargavi.
Babu made his feature film debut in Yogi, an Ameer starrer, and subsequently adopted the name of the movie as a prefix for his stage name. In 2013, he made his debut in an extended comic role with Pattathu Yaanai (2013), and he also had a small part in the Hindi film Chennai Express, which starred Shahrukh Khan.
