Shamna Kasim is an Indian film actress and model recognized worldwide. She is known as Poorna, which was the name she adopted when she started performing in films at the age of six. She was born in Kannur to a Muslim-Malayalee family named Kasim and Ramla, who later moved to St Teresas Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School where she completed her schooling after transferring from Ursuline Senior Secondary School. To better devote herself to her dancing abilities, she transferred schools.
She studied several forms of classic dance since she was a kid. She is knowledgeable in the following classical dance styles: Kathak, Bharata Natyam, and Mohiniyattam. She won many competitions while at school. For four years, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree via correspondence.
