Gutinath was born in Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, in the year 1975. He is the son of middle-class Chandran and Kumudham. completed his education and training in the same city, then relocated to Chennai for employment. He worked in Chennai streets as a marketer before getting into media. From 1997 onwards, he has been active in the field of media. He is married to Durga Gobinath and has a daughter named Venba.
