Venu was an Indian film actor (Malayan) who was born on May 22, 1948. His true name was Venu, but it became Nedumudi Venu after he began his career in the Malayalam film industry. Venu is one of five children born to P. K. Kesavan Pillai and P. Kunjikkuttiyamma in Nedumudi, Alappuzha. He studied literature at Sanatana Dharma College, Alappuzha, and after graduation worked as a journalist in Kalakaumudi and as a lecturer at a tutorial institution. He’s been interested in the arts and music since high school. Venu began his acting career in theater before moving on to appear in films. His first film was Thambu, directed by G. Aravindan, which was released in 2003. He performed well in the Bharathan production of Aaravam. The Oridathoru Phayalwan of Padmarajan was a significant moment for him.

Also, he wrote screenplays for movies. He developed stories for films such as Kattathe Kilikkoodu, Theertham, Sruthi, Ambada Njane, Oru Katha Oru Nunnakkatha, Svidham and Angane Oru Avadhikkalathu. He directed Pooram, a Tamil movie. He also appeared in several Tamil films, including Indian and Anniyan, both directed by Kamal Haasan. Venu has also acted in several television series. In September 2007, he won the Best Actor award at the Zimbabwe International Film Festival for his performance in ‘Saira.’ Saira was the first film from India to be shown at the festival.
