Mukesh (who was previously known as Mukesh Babu) is the son of a legendary stage actor, director, and drama troupe organizer O. Madhavan’s daughter Vijayakumari. Mukesh’s mother Vijayakumari was also a renowned stage actress who won the Kerala State award for best stage actress on one occasion. Mukesh, who grew up in the tiny hamlet of Pattathanam near Kollam city, completed his elementary education at Infant Jesus Anglo Indian High School in Tangasseri before enrolling at Sree Narayana College for his bachelor’s degree. He is a graduate of the Law Academy in Thiruvananthapuram, as well as a lawyer. Mukesh’s ex-wife Saritha was a prominent Tamil film actress who appeared in several roles in south Indian films, including the national award-winning Thaneer Thaneer in 1981. He began his career as a supporting actor with the debut film, Bathukamma. He subsequently established himself as a leading actor in the Malayalam film industry. Mukesh has acted in a number of low-budget comedy films throughout the early 1990s, including Jayaram, Jagadeesh, and Siddique. Many of them were commercial successes. His most popular films were helmed by Siddique-Lal together. They collaborated on In Harihar Nagar, God Father, Hitler, Chronic Bachelor, and Friends aside from Ramji Rao Speaking.
