Cheran Pandian, better known as Cheran, is an Indian actor, producer, director, and lyricist. Born in Pazhaiyurpatty in Madurai district in Tamil Nadu on December 12, 1965. So far, Cheran has worked in Tamil and Telugu language film industries and his works have been published in Tamil and Telgu shows.

Cheran is an Indian film director and actor known for his films in Tamil Cinema. He has won four National Film Awards, including Vetri Kodi Kattu (2000), Autograph (2004), and Thavamai Thavamirundhu (2005). He has also won five Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and six South Filmfare Awards.
After making his directorial debut in 1997 with a village-based drama film dealing with human interactions, Cheran made a name for himself as a filmmaker by producing Bharathi Kannamma (1997) and Porkkaalam (1997), which earned excellent responses from critics.

He made his debut in the industry as a production manager on some films. He began his career as a production manager with Puriyaadha Pudhir (1990) and was later promoted to an associate director from Cheran Pandiyan to Nattamai (1994). He worked as an assistant director with K. S. Ravik.
