Sanyal was born on January 30, 1980, in Delhi, India. He is of Bengali heritage and comes from a family. He went to Raisina Bengali School and then Zakir Husain College, where he obtained an honors degree in mathematics with distinction. Sanyal made his debut in 2006’s Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra film Rang De Basanti, but his breakout came with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey (2009), where he received a lot of praise from both critics and audiences.
