- The series is hosted by Venkatesh Bhat, a chef, and the company’s CEO. He comes from the Udupi-Mangalore region of India. Despite being a vegan, Bhat is also an excellent non-vegetarian cook.
- Bhat completed his undergraduate studies at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and received a master’s in business administration from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in general management from Nanyang Technology University.
- Bhat began working in the kitchens of the Hotel Chola Sheraton in 1994. Two years later, he moved to Taj Coromandel as a management trainee in hotel operations and kitchen management before being promoted to the position of sous chef in 1998.
- Bhat began his culinary career at Leela Palace in Bangalore as an executive sous chef in 2001, and he was promoted to the corporate chef by 2004. From 2007 to 2009, Bhat worked as an entrepreneur before launching several concepts including South Indies, Up South, and Bon South.
- He went on to work at the Accord Puducherry, Highland Hotel in Ooty, and Accord Metropolitan. He is the CEO of the hotels during the day. He works evenings as a chef, and his specialty is the hotel’s Royal Indian restaurant, which specializes in South Indian cuisine and other eateries on the premises including Pergola, Zodiac Bar, and brick oven. He made cook with comali in 2019 with CChef Damodharanhef Dhamodaran.
