She made her cinematic debut in 2005 at the age of 15 with a Bollywood film called Chand Sa Roshan Chehra, and she sang on the Abhijeet Sawant album track “Lafzon Hand” from the Aapka Abhijeet album, which was also published in 2005. She worked in Telugu and Tamil cinema. She made her debut in Telugu cinema with Sri (2011), and she subsequently appeared in Kedi, her first Tamil film, the next year. She is the first Indian actress to be nominated for the Saturn Awards’ Best Supporting Actress. She was also given the “Dayawati Modi” prize, which is one of India’s most prestigious arts and culture awards in 2017. She was also rewarded with an honorary doctorate from CIAC in conjunction with KEISEI International University in South Korea for his services to Indian cinema. Tamannaah began her acting career as a 12-year-old in Telugu and Tamil language films, where she appeared as a child actor. In 2005, she made her cinematic debut with Yash Raj Film’s Chand Sa Roshan Chehra which was released in Hindi.
In 2006, she starred opposite Manoj Bharathiraja in the Tamil drama film Kedi which told the story of two estranged friends who reconnect during a train journey. Her performance as Malar, a village girl who moves to the city with big dreams, was critically acclaimed and won her several awards including the Vijay Award for Star Debut of the Year. She next starred in “Andala Ramudu”, a Telugu film, which gained her recognition in Andhra Pradesh. Later that year she appeared in her first Bollywood film, “Chand Sa Roshan Chehra” directed by Shashilal K. Nair.
