Charles Forrest “Spike” Spencer is an American voice actor and journalist who has dubbed Japanese anime films. He is recognized for his work as Shinji Ikari in ADV Films’ anime adaptations of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Martian Successor Nadesico as Akito Tenkawa, and Excel Saga as Gojo Shioji.

Spencer went to the University of Houston for four years. He is a foodie with a website called DontKillYourDate.com. Spencer has a 2nd-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a brown belt in aikido.
After making a number of indy films, he met Amanda Winn-Lee, who advised him to audition for ADV Films’ anime English dubbing. Spencer got his start in acting as Prime Minister Mikoshiba in Super Atragon, before playing the main character of Takateru in Suikoden Demon Century. Spencer was chosen to play the main character Shinji Ikari in Neon Genesis Evangelion in August 1996. The rights to the Rebuild of Evangelion movies were acquired by Funimation after ADV Films went bankrupt.
Spencer has appeared in commercials for Houston Cellular, Applebee’s, Kroger, Chevrolet, and Subway. In live-action movies and television series such as The Big Easy, he has acted out.
