She made her first television debut with the Sathyan, Bhagyajathakom, and also appeared in the 410 films in films. Sheela returned to acting, playing the main role in Sathyan Anthikkad’s Manassinakkare. The film was a huge hit, and her performance was critically acclaimed.   • Sheela was born in a Syrian Christian family to Railway official Kanimangalam Antony and Gracy in the Kingdom of Cochin (now Kerala). She grew up in different cities before settling down in Chennai, where she was educated. As a result, she received her primary education at various schools, including Trivandrum, Thrissur, Ooty, Tirunelveli, Salem, Edapally and St. Francis Anglo-Indian Girls School in Coimbatore.
  • She was wed to Xavier, a political reporter, for seven years until their divorce. She subsequently married actor Ravichandran and has a kid, George. He is now an active builder after getting married and having two daughters.
  • Sheela has written a novel in Malayalam named Pathamathe Cheque, as well as a number of short tales and a book called Kuilinte Koodu. She is also an artist and an interior designer who works in both fields.

She wrote the story, script, and screenplay for Shikharangal, which was also remade in Tamil. Besides films, she has directed a telefilm Ninaivukale neengividu in which Jayabharathi acted. She acted as Akhilandeswary in the 2005 blockbuster Chandramukhi. She has also authored a book, titled Kuilinte Koodu.
