Shamitha Shreekumar (1980-) is an Indian Tamil television and film actress who has appeared in South Indian Tamil soap operas. Before she gained greater fame as a serial actress in Tamil Nadu, her only film appearance in the 2001 epic Pandavar Bhoomi was praised for her work with Arun Vijay. She was praised by the crowd for her good roles in the television series Sivasakthi and Ponnunjal, as well as for her negative role in the Vijay TV drama Mouna Ragam.

Shamitha’s real name was originally Bhavani before she met director Cheran when she went to the premiers of his Porkkaalam (1997), in which Rajeswari, Shamitha’s younger sister, had a significant role. She was given the part of a village girl named Pooma in Shivani’s next movie, Vinnodum Mugilodum, which came out in 2000. She left her psychology studies to pursue an acting career after that.

- Then, after training in Moozhikuli Academy of Performing Arts for five years, Shamitha Shreekumar was cast as the main character in Pandavar Bhoomi (2001), a drama by Cheran at her village. She played dual parts and appeared opposite Arunkumar in the major role. She carved a niche in the hearts of spectators, who may not have heard of her before. She won the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for Best Tamil film in 2001.
- She was unable to find further acting jobs after her appearance in Pandavar Bhoomi because she didn’t get any more parts, and she subsequently began participating in television serials in the late 2000s.
