Career
Year Shows / Movies / Awards Character / Role
Raghuvaran, who was already active on the stage, earned a diploma from the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute in Chennai before attempting to audition for several Kollywood studios and eventually being cast as a hero. Hariharan’s offbeat film Ezhavathu Manithan (Seventh Man) won numerous accolades but few opportunities for him as a hero. A few more roles as heroes were offered to him after that, including Oru Odai Nadhiyagirathu and Nee Thodumbothu, which underperformed. After Silk, the bad guy part in it attracted notice, and his career was opened to opportunity offers. The antagonist performance continued with Kutravaaligal, “Poo vizhi vasalile,” Mandhira Punnagai, and Oorkavalan. In between releases, he played both heroes and supporting actor. Arambam Mudivalla is one of the most well-known characters in Tamil literature. Adhu Minsaram Samsaram is another character that should not be overlooked.
Raghuvaran died on March 19, 2008, at the age of 45. Due to heavy alcohol consumption, his organs failed and he died. His death occurred while filming for a number of films, including Kanthaswamy (2009), in which Raghuvaran’s parts were re-shot with Ashish Vidyarthi, causing the film’s delay in release. Aatadista, his posthumous film, was released shortly after his death.
