Priya Bhavani Shankar studied engineering at B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology before entering Infosys as an engineer. She left her job, however, in order to pursue acting as a profession. Since 2011, she has been a news presenter for Puthiya Thalaimurai TV. She was associated with them until 2014 when she made her acting debut in Tamil soap opera Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai from 2014 to 2016.
In 2017, she made her cinematic debut in Tamil with the film Meyaadha Maan. She subsequently appeared in Tamil films such as Kadaikutty Singam, Monster, and Mafia: Chapter 1.
