She had finished her early education in Delhi as a child, and she dreamed of becoming a psychiatrist or an archaeologist. After completing her degree, she opened a boutique in New Delhi. She had no desire to be an actress from the outset, but after being persuaded by her friend Sushmita Sen to compete in the Miss Delhi contest in 1993, she won.
She got her start in the entertainment industry as Farah in the television series Amma and Family, which aired on Indian television in 1995. She dubbed for an Indian actress in a Hollywood film, The Mummy, in which she played Evelyn Carnahan. This was well-received by the audience.
She was also seen in Sahara One’s drama Kesariya Balam Aavo Hamare Des. In 2006, she was seen in the movie Krrish, playing Priyanka Chopra’s best buddy.In 2007, she played Ambalika in Naagin. She starred in the film Fashion, which was released in 2008, and portrayed Sheena Bajaj, a fashion magazine expert. She was on the youth-oriented Disney program Kya Mast Hai Life from 2009 to 2010.She played Sushmita Juneja, a Bollywood megastar’s mother who can’t speak Hindi properly. She has previously appeared in Student of the Year (film), where she played Geetha, Abhimanyu (Siddharth Malhotra) ‘s evil aunt.
