Manimegalai was born in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, to Ramaayyappan and Jothimani. She is the eldest of three siblings. Her father is a businessperson and her mother is a homemaker. Manimegalai grew up in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Manimegalai studied at St. John’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Coimbatore and then moved to Chennai with her family and continued her education at St. John’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School there.
She started her professional career as a video jockey on Sun Music. In 2017, she met the assistant choreographer Hussain and fell in love with him. On December 6, 2017, they married. Their marriage generated a religious debate after it was over.
Manimegalai initially made her debut as a Video Jockey on December 30th, 2009, at the age of 17. She began hosting her program Super Hits on Sun Music. She later hosted numerous live shows and reality shows for Sun Music, including Franka Sollata, Black, Kollywood Diaries, and others.
She became a leading television anchor after hosting numerous celebrity interviews( notably two interviews with Kamal Hassan) and popular primetime shows on Sun TV, KTV, Sun News, and Sun Music simultaneously.
In 2016, Manimegalai was awarded the Best Anchor by the World Human Integration Council. She received the award from the then governor of Tamil Nadu Dr.K.Rosaiah. Her fans started the trend Best Anchor 2016 Manimegalai on Twitter in the last week of December 2016 which trended in Chennai. She was also nicknamed Anchor Superstar by her fans.
Manimegalai, though has acting skills, has no interest in doing films and wants to pursue her passion in anchoring.
