Kalabhavan Shajon is a well-known commentator, actor, and mimicry artist in the Malayalam film industry. He is known for his role as a villain in the 2013 Malayalam suspense thriller film Drishyam, for which he won an award. Shaji was born as Shaji John to E. J. John, who was a retired police officer (ASI), and Rejina John, who was a retired nurse. Shaji’s birth occurred in Kottayam, Kerala. His brother, Shibu John is also a mimicry artist. He gained his stage name ‘Kalabhavan Shajohn’ as a result of his name being called out so frequently that Shaji John eventually became ‘Shajohn.’ He shot to fame after he was cast in minor comedic roles in Malayalam movies. In the 1999 film My Dear Karadi, he played a carbon copy of actor Kalabhavan Mani. He was recognized again in 2001, in Thaha’s comedy super-hit movie Ee Parakkum Thalika, where he portrayed a traffic police officer.
He subsequently appeared in a number of Malayalam movies, including ‘Chirikudukka’ and ‘Bamboo Boys’ in 2002, ‘Thilakkam’ and ‘CID Moosa’ in 2003, ‘Kochirajavu’ and ‘Rajamanikyam’ in 2005, and so on. In 2013, he was well-received for his villainous performance as “Constable Sahadevan” in Jeethu Joseph’s blockbuster film Drishyam. He has appeared in several Bollywood films, including the action-comedy Namak Haraam. He was cast with other notable stars such as Mohanlal, Asha Sharath, Meena, Siddique, and others. In 2013, he won the title of “Best Actor in a Negative Role” from the South Indian International Movie Awards for his notorious performance as a rapist.
