Lal Biography

He began his career as a mimicry artist in Kalabhavan, where he met childhood friend Siddique, who would later join forces with him to create many films. Lal and Siddique got their start working as assistant directors on Fazil’s Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu film. The success of the film was based on its realistic narrative and engaging performances, not on star value or a celebrity formula that had characterized Malayalam cinema in the past. They’d always tried to avoid casting Mohanlal or Mammootty. Finally, both of them changed their minds after the release of their fourth film, and when their next production picture was released, Siddique-Lal decided to cast Mohanlal instead. (1992) The pair once again collaborated on their fifth film, which became a hit.
