Seema was born on December 4, 1970, in Mundakayam village of Kottayam district to M.G Gopinathan Pilla and Cherthala Sumathi. She has a sister Renkua Girijan who is a playback singer and brother A.G Anil who is a music director. She received her bachelor’s degree from R.L.V College of Music and Fine Arts at Tripunithura, where she was formally trained in music.

She began her career in acting career in the theatre, then moved to television serials and eventually films. Kocheroda was her first serial performance in the show Cherappayi Kadhakal where she played the character of Kocheroda. She’s also appeared in telefilms and taken part in reality shows such as Nakshthradeepangal (Kairali TV) and Rasikaraja No. 1 (Surya TV), as well as appearing on popular talk shows such as Valentine’s Corner, Nammal Thammil, Valkannadi, The Sreekandan Nair Show, and others.
