Premgi Amaren, a resident of Chennai, is a multi-talented artist. He was born on February 25, 1979. As a playback singer, film composer, songwriter and actor in about a decade-long career, he has acquitted himself admirably. Premgi is the son of renowned music composer and vocalist Gangai Amaran and younger brother of film director and actor Venkat Prabhu, both from a family with a long history in the entertainment industry. He is well-known in Tamil cinema as a stand-up comedian. His uncle is Maestro Ilaiyaraja.

He originally intended to be a musician and pursue his ambitions; he began his career as an assistant to his cousin, Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is a well-known film music composer. The journey he started never ceased, as soon after, he became a playback singer. He is significantly celebrated for his rap songs in Tamil cinema. He has also worked along with Yuvan Shankar Raja in remixing some of his compositions. His first remix was “Loosu Penne” from the movie Vallavan.

- In 2006, Prem made his debut as an actor in Silambarasan’s Vallavan. His brother Venkat Prabhu’s Chennai 600028, which was released in 2007 and was directed by him, was the beginning of his directing career. As seen, Premgi quickly became a household name after this film established him as a comic.
- Spring has no bounds. He was successful at all times during the season. In 2010, he played the lead role in Venkat Prabhu’s Goa and received the title of “Best Supporting Actor” at the International Tamil Film Awards for his work in Mankatha, a blockbuster of 2011.
