Nishigandha Wad is a Marathi actress who works in Hindi and Marathi film and television. She was born on October 11, 1969, in Mumbai. She obtained her doctorate from the University of Mumbai before becoming recognized for her research Changing Role of Women In Society – Reflections From Marathi And British Theatres.
Nishigandha Wad Biography
At the age of seven, she won the Best Actress prize at an inter-school drama competition. There has been no looking back since then. She was given a National Scholarship of Dramatics Award by the Cultural Ministry of India at the age of twelve. She was trained by Smt. Sulabha Deshpande and became involved in acting, and subsequently studied classic Kathak under her Guru, K. Rajkumar, who also served as her mentor during her early years in performing arts (a Marathi writer). Her career began to blossom with the help of her mother Dr. Vijaya Wad (a Marathi writer), who helped polish it in its infancy.

As a child, she acted in theater plays and was also trained as an artist. She began her career in commercial cinema, appearing in more than a hundred films including Salim Langade Pe Mat Ro, Karm Yodha, Daadagiri, Deewangee, Shejari Shejari, Eka Peksha Ek, , Bala Jo Jo Re,’ Janmadata,’ Alibaba Aur 40 Chor,’ Om Shanti – Fight for Peace,’ Rokkk’, Shaapit,’ Ashi Hi Dyaneshwari,’ Nidar – The Fearless’ and many other films.
