She began her acting career in 1991 with the Tamil film Aatha Un Koyilile. She worked her way through the ranks, from small-budget Tamil features to more mainstream accomplishments alongside legends such as Kamal Haasan in Indian (1996). As a tribute to her success in the film industry, Kasthuri: A South Indian Film Star, a 30-minute documentary film, was released.
