Valsala Menon is a true mentor and technique actress, having acted in over 150 films after nearly 30 years of acting experience in the Malayalam Movie business. She was born in 1945 to parents Raman Menon and Devakiyamma in the Thrissur district, where she learned the fundamentals of classical dance from an early age and performed on several stages before royalty. She became the first woman from her village to step in to show business when she was crowned Miss Thrissur in 1970. She made her film debut in 1953 as a child actor in Thiramala, which was directed by Vimal Kumar and P.R.S. Pillai and features Kumari Thankam, Sathyan, and Thomas Burleigh among the stars. Ramu Kariat worked as an Assistant Director on Thirmala, with Kumari Thankam, Sathyan, and Thomas Burleigh star roles.

She did not join the movie world until several years after her divorce, and she didn’t appear in a film until after her children had gone to college, making her return to Kiratham in 1985. Following her return to the film industry, she starred in several notable films, including Parinayam (1994), in which she played Veliya Athemaru alongside major names such as Thilakan, Mohini, Manoj K Jayan, and Nedumudi Venu. This piqued people’s interest and they started paying attention to her after that. She has also appeared in television serials and numerous commercials.
