Aishwarya Bhaskaran or Shanta Meena Bhaskar is a South Indian actress who has acted in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam movies. She was born on January 18, 1971, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Aishwarya is the daughter of Lakshmi and K Baskaran, two well-known Indian personalities. She has a step-sister from her mother’s side. She was married to Tanveer and later divorced. They have, however, been blessed with a daughter named Anaina. Aishwarya is the maternal granddaughter of Indian film producer and director Yaragudipati Varada Rao, popularly known as Y V Rao. Apart from her career, she works in the computer business.

She debuted in her mother and stepfather’s film, Nyaayangal Jeykattum. Her first film, Oliyampukal, was released in 1990. She has acted in Telugu films as well: Prema Jhindabad and Seetapathi Chalo Tirupati. In 1991, she starred as Rani in the Tamil drama film ‘Mamagaru.’ She played the lead role of Meera, a college student about to give birth, in the Tamil romance movie ‘Meera’ (1992). She acted as Anju Nambiar and Manju Nambiar in the Malayalam romantic comedy film ‘Butterflies’ in 1993, and subsequently played the part of Vidya P. Bhalla in Priyadarshan’s Hindi film ‘Gardish.’
