Fletcher was employed by Sounds Good in Theale as a cassette duplicating machine operator, and he amused his coworkers with his performances on a regular basis.
Fletcher began to watch Phillip Schofield on BBC1’s The Brum Cupboard with Gordon the Gopher during his final year at Guildford School of Acting and decided that working in children’s television was the job for him. He then chatted with Phillip Schofield, who advised him to create a showreel to show TV executives.
He put together a show reel called Justin Time, which included two distinct characters: Anna Conda, a myopic reptile-house warden; and Arthur Sleep, a regional newsreader who has trouble staying awake and can sleep anywhere.
Justin Fletcher is the owner of Scrumptious House, a production firm that has released a DVD called Let’s Sing Nursery Rhymes with Justin Fletcher.
He is the voice of both Jim Jam and Slim the cowardly giraffe in the CITV channel program Jim Jam And Sunny.
From his voice coming on the VTech Alphabet Desk, Turn and Learn Driver, and Bob the Builder phones of young children to a variety of Crick Software games, he’s been lending his vocal talents to various titles.
Fletcher was given an MBE in the 2008 Birthday Honours for services to children’s broadcasting and the voluntary sector.
Justin also goes to events such as Camp Bestival in Dorset to entertain children. Stagewise, a Bournemouth-based performing arts school, is sponsored by Justin.
