She was born on August 23, 1944, in Mussorie, Uttarakhand, British India. She is a legendary Indian film actress and the wife of prominent film director/actor Dilip Kumar. She debuted in Hindi films at the age of 16 in 1960. She had just a little knowledge of acting when she began working in films. However, because all her prior friends had “classical” training and to compete and succeed in the movies, she began studying Bharatanatyam and Kathak. Her dance was going to be shown more when she turned out to be a professional classical dancer in every film. Her career took off after her first break from “Junglee,” which featured Shammi Kapoor opposite, became the stepping stone for her budding film career. Her name was even included in the “Award for the Best Actress.

At the young age of “sixteen,” she debuted in Hindi films in the year 1960. When she entered into movies she did not do any acting course just she was had a little knowledge of acting. But at her time all other companions have had “classical” expertise and to compete and attain success in the films, she began the training of “Bharata Nat yam” and “Kathak.” When she turned out to be a trained classical dancer in her every film her dance was going to be displayed more. She got her first break from the movie “Junglee” released in 1961 opposite the male lead was “Shammi Kapoor” and this film became the stepping stone of her flourishing filmy career and her name even got enlisted for the “Award for the “Best Actor Female in her career first Filmfare awards.
