She was born on August 23, 1944, in Mussorie, Uttarakhand, British India. She is a legendary Indian film actress and the wife of prominent film director/actor Dilip Kumar. She debuted in Hindi films at the age of 16 in 1960. She had just a little knowledge of acting when she began working in films. However, because all her prior friends had “classical” training and to compete and succeed in the movies, she began studying Bharatanatyam and Kathak. Her dance was going to be shown more when she turned out to be a professional classical dancer in every film. Her career took off after her first break from “Junglee,” which featured Shammi Kapoor opposite, became the stepping stone for her budding film career. Her name was even included in the “Award for the Best Actress.
