Sridevi – Sridevi Boney Kapoor Ayyappan was an Indian film actress and production company head, who worked in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada films. She was known as the “First Female Superstar” and was credited for helping to break down gender barriers in Indian cinema, appearing in a variety of genres, including slapstick comedies and epic dramas. She has appeared in both slapstick comedy and historical epics. She was given several honors, including the Padma Shri, a National Film Award, a Nandi Award, the Tamil Nadu State Film Award, and the Kerala State Film Award. She has won four Filmfare Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement award.
Sridevi Biography
Sri Murali was born in Meenampatti near Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, India on 13 August 1963 to Ayyapan and Rajeshwari. Her father was a lawyer from Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, and her mother was from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. She has two stepbrothers and a sister. In 1996, she married Boney Kapoor, a film producer. The couple welcomed two children: Janhvi who is also an actress, and Khushi. Sridevi was discovered dead in her hotel room on February 24, 2018, while her husband had been looking for her.

Sridevi began her acting career at the age of four in the Tamil film Kandhan Karunai in 1967. She then essayed the part of young Muruga in Thunaivan. Sridevi’s career began in Telugu cinema as a child actor with the 1970 film Maa Nanna Nirdoshi. In 1971, Baby Sridevi won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Performer in Poompatta (1971), a Malayalam film.
Sridevi made her debut as a heroine in Hindi films in 1979 with Solva Sawan. After 4 years, she worked with Jeetendra for the film Himmatwala. The film was released in 1983, and it became one of the most successful Hindi films of the year. It made Sridevi well-known throughout India and dubbed her “Thunder Thighs.”
Their films together include 16 movies, of which Himmatwala (1983), Jaani Dost (1983), Justice Chaudhry (1983), Mawaali (1983), Akalmand (1984), Tohfa (1984), Balidaan (1985), Aulad (1987)), Suhaagan (1986, and more.
In 2018, author and journalist Lalita Iyer published a biography of Sridevi. In 2019, screenwriter and author Satyarth Nayak authored a book on Sridevi.
