Sarathkumar Ramanathan, born 14 July 1954, is an Indian actor, politician, filmmaker, and singer. He has acted in more than 130 Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada films throughout his career as an actor. Originally a bodybuilder and later a journalist, Sarathkumar began his acting career in the Telugu film Samajamlo Sthree in 1986. He first played supporting roles before establishing himself as a leading man over time with the moniker “Supreme Star” in Tamil cinema. He has won two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards South to name a few of his accolades.
Sarathkumar Biography
After moving from Delhi to Chennai, Sarathkumar’s family enrolled him at the Raja Muthiah High School. He then went on to study at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras’ Central School, and St. Patrick’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Tamil Nadu. He played football, cricket, and hockey for his school and college teams, and represented his institution every chance he got. He also joined the NCC, enrolling in Air Wing Cadet school. He was one of the cadets who took part in the Republic Day Parade of 1970. After finishing his pre-university studies at Loyola College, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from The New College.
