Ritu Varma is a Tamil and Telugu actress who works in both languages. After making her debut in short features and minor roles, Varma played the lead in Telugu film Pell Choopulu (2016), for which she won the Nandi Award for Best Actress and the Filmfare Critics Prize for Best Actress – South.

She completed her intermediate education at Villa Marie College for Women, Hyderabad, and received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Malla Reddy Engineering College. She has worked as a model, an actress, and a presenter. She took part in the Miss Hyderabad Beauty pageant and finished as the first runner-up.
Varma rose to prominence in Telugu cinema with her part in the short film Anukokunda. The 48HR Film Project competition awarded Varma the Best Actor (Female) prize for her performance in the short film Anukokunda. In 2013, the short film was shown at the Cannes Short Film Corner.
Her first feature film was Baadshah, in which she played a minor part as Pinky. She has since signed on to star in Prema Ishq Kaadhal, in which she portrayed a costume designer opposite Sree Vishnu. She subsequently appeared in Naa Rakumarudu (2014) and Yevade Subramanyam, for which she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress (Female) at IIFA Utsavam. She went on to star in the romantic comedy Pelli Choopulu with Vijay Deverakonda as her next film. The film achieved commercial success and took home the Best Feature Film in Telugu at the 64th National Film Awards, as well as the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu. She received excellent reviews for her performance and subsequently won the Nandi Award for Best Actress and Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress – Telugu for her work.
