Rachel Weisz, also credited as Rachel Hannah Weisz (born March 7, 1970, London, England), is a British actress who was recognized for playing good and bright characters like environmentalist Tessa Quayle in the political thriller The Constant Gardener (2005), for which she received an Academy Award for best supporting actress. She also had success in quirky comedies and big-budget thrillers, as well.

In the early 1990s, Weisz got her start in theatre while studying at Cambridge University. She made occasional TV appearances such as Scarlet and Black in the early 1990s, but she became well-known for her 1994 portrayal of Gilda in a Noël Coward revival of Design for Living on the West End. Rachel Weisz made her film debut in a minor part in the horror flick Death Machine (1994) before getting critical notice for her role in Bernardo Bertolucci’s Stealing Beauty (1996).
