Manoj Kumar is an Indian film director, producer, and television actor who has worked in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Bharathiraja is his brother-in-law. He’s become well known for playing the patriotic hero in a variety of films. He made his directorial debut with Manukkul Vairam (1986), which he had assisted Bharathiraja in. He has directed a number of films throughout the 1990s, including Guru Paarvai (1998), starring Prakash Raj, which received favorable reviews.

Manoj Kumar grew up in Delhi and is of Hindu heritage. His mother, Kamala Kishanchand Khanna, was from Jammu & Kashmir and worked as a school teacher. He received his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the College of Engineering Trivandrum. Manoj Kumar was born on September 23, 1955, in Allinagaram, Theni district to Mr. Veerana Thevar (Former) and Mrs. Veeramal (Mother), both of whom are from Theni’s Maniyammai region. He is married to Ms. Selvi and has two children with her.
He attempted to work with Prakash Raj and Prabhu again on a film titled Vasantha Kaalam, but it was abandoned. He then went on to make medium-budget action films including Vaanavil (2000) and Jaisurya (2004) featuring Arjun, as well as Raajjiyam which had Vijayakanth and Dileep in the lead cast.
He began his career as a director in the mid-2000s, directing several Tamil and Telugu films before transitioning into filmmaking with Arya (2005), which was co-written by him. In 2013, it was announced that Manoj Kumar had resurfaced and was working on a project titled Uyirukku Uyiraga with producer Kovai Thambi. The movie’s plot concerned the connection between parents and their adult children, while the cast featured unknowns.
