Kavi Kumar Azad was an Indian actor who is best known for his role as Dr. Hansraj Hathi in the long-running Indian comedy series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Following a heart attack, he died on 9 July 2018.

After graduation, he went to Mumbai to pursue a career in films. He began his career by working on several short films and participating in minor roles in feature films. He was a funny police inspector on the 2001-2003 DD national TV superhero program Junior G. His career began in July 2008, when Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah debuted. He played Dr. Hansraj Hathi, a member of the Gokuldham Society from Bihar.
He made his television debut with a minor role in Best of Luck Nikki, an India comedy series in 2008. Dr. Hansraj Hathi, the primary character in the popular Indian television program Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has made him well-known throughout India. In a similar show, he took on the role of an overweight specialist who is always hungry.The crowd of spectators, particularly youngsters, adored his character. He has been linked with the television show since 2009. He used to have a weight issue before then. He formerly had difficulty with practically anything apart from advice from a specialist, and he lost 80 kg through bariatric surgery in 2010.
He died of heart failure on July 9, 2018. He was supposed to go for the shoot that day, but he took a large gulp of air towards the end of the day at Wockhardt Hospital in the first half. He was very debilitated before passing away. He was ill for three days before his death. On the eighth of July 2018, he passed away at the Wockhardt Hospital following a coma.
