Deepraj Rana was born in Patiala and educated in Allahabad before he moved to Chandigarh to study, where the Punjab connection continued when he completed his post-graduate studies at the Department of Theatre of Punjab University. He had been working with Nadira Babbar’s theatre company Ekjut since 1989, and the five years he spent there seem to have done him a lot of good.
