Ashwin Kumar is an Indian actor and writer who has worked in films such as Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (2016) and Enai Noki Paayum Thota (2019). He’s also acted in PozhiyurivilOru Iyakkunar, and he’s filming for Pakka now. As a teenager, he was an avid book reader and a passionate writer. After studying at Presidency College, Chennai, he went on to do a two-year acting course from the Acting School of Creative Excellence (formally KMCT) in Chennai. Ashwin has been writing for as long as he can remember and his first published piece was about the Tamil film industry.

Titled ‘Pakka’, it is non-fiction based on true events involving kidnapping. “I’ve moved away from the Tamil film industry to write about crime. I hope this book will help you stay in the midst of your enemies,” Ashwin said at a press meet here on Saturday. “I have worked hard for two years to pen it, and have documented stories from India’s most famous kidnapping cases. The events are real, but not exact.”
