Mary Kom – She is Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom (born 24 November 1982) is an Indian novice boxer, politician, and modern Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. She is the one and only female to win the world beginner Boxing Championship six instances, the lone woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the first seven world Championships, and the one and only boxer (male or female) to win 8 World Championship medals. Nicknamed Magnificient Mary, she is the best Indian lady boxer to have qualified for the 2012 summer season Olympics, competing inside the flyweight (fifty-one kg) class and prevailing a bronze medal.

She is one of the most talented boxers in India. She began her boxing career at 15 years of age. She was ranked as the world’s No. 1 female light-flyweight boxer by the International Boxing Association (amateur) (AIBA). She became the first female boxer ever in the history of India to have won a gold medal at the Asian Games in 2014 at Incheon, South Korea. She is the first Indian boxer female to have won the gold medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
