KTS Padannayil or Kochuparambil Thai Subramanian Padannayil (born 1933) was an Indian theatre artist and actor in the Malayalam film industry. At the age of 21, he began his acting career as a theater artist and made his motion picture debut in 1995 with Rajasenan’s farce Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava. Padannayil played minor roles in over 60 films throughout supporting and comic roles. He is best known for his comedic work in films such as Sreekrishnapurathe Nakshatrathilakkam, Vrudhanmare Sookshikkuka, and Vaamanapuram Bus Route. He has also appeared in several television comedy series.

Padannayil was born in 1933 as the fifth of six children to Kochupadannayil Thai and Maani at Thekkumbhagam, Thrippunithura, Kochi. He had three brothers, Murukan, Raghavan, and Shivan, as well as two sisters, Lalitha and Lathika. He went to Saraswathi Vilasam School in Tripunithura for his education. Due to economic problems he discontinued his studies after the sixth grade. Before becoming a cinema artist, he was a theatre artist.

He has been acting in and directing amateur drama at Trippunithura’s annual day celebration of the Amber charkha spinning mill since he was first. He trained youngsters with the Children’s Society at Kannankulangara. In a career that spanned 40 years, he acted on thousands of stages. Jayabharath Nithakalalaya, Chenagassery Geetha, Vaikom Malavika, Kollam Tuna, and Attingal Padmasree were among his many dramatic troupes. He appeared in more than 60 films and performed in more than 100 comedy serials during a 25-year career.
He married Ramani in 1972. Syam, Sannan, Saljan, and Swapna were the couple’s three children. He lived in Kochi with his son Syam, who was a filmmaker. Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava was his cinematic debut in 1995. Padannayil died in his home in Tripunithura on July 22, 2021, as a consequence of age-related conditions. He is survived by his four children and many great-grandchildren. His spouse preceded him in death.
