Shilpa Shukla (born February 22, 1982) is an Indian film and theater actress. She was recognized for her performances in the 2007 sports drama Chak De! India and the 2013 neo-noir movie B.A. Pass, for which she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress. She had her film debut with Khamosh Pani, which was well-received by critics.
Shilpa Shukla Biography
Shukla was born in Bihar’s Vaishali district to a Bhumihar family. She is the daughter of civil servants, politicians, and scholars from a long line of them. Her brother, Tenzin Priyadarshi, is a Buddhist monk, while her sister is an attorney.
She began her acting career with renowned theatrical personality M.K. Raina and later worked for the Asmita Theatre Group’s Director Arvind Gaur, where she performed in many works such as God of Small Things, The Sound of Music, Mahabharata, and Manas Kauli. The lead role in the most popular plays in Mahesh Dattani’s Final Solutions and Tara, Govind Deshpande’s Antim Diwas, Ashok Lal’s Ek Mamooli Aadmi, Girish Karnad’s Rakt Kalyan (Taledanda), and Neil Simon’s Log-Baag.
