K. Baby Joseph, better known as Jose Prakash, was born on April 14, 1925, in Cochin, Kerala. He was recognized for his role as Mikhael in the Doordarshan teleserial Santhathikal’s Doordreshan Mikhayelinte Santhathikal. He is noted for playing a villain who raised crocodiles and spoke with them as well. In 2006 he won the Bahadoor Award for lifetime achievement, and in 2011 he received the J.C. Daniel Award for outstanding achievement in performing arts. He worked as an army officer for the British Indian Army before turning to act full-time. He retired from the army in 1984, after which he formed the Kottayam Arts Group with pals, in which he was a lead vocalist. Thikkurissy Sukumaran observed and heard him sing, and introduced him to the Malayalam film industry as a singer in 1953. He has sung in about 60 movies without any formal music training. Jose Prakash was given his name by Thikurissy. He began acting slowly alongside singing.

In the 1960s, he concentrated more on acting. His first significant part was in the film Bhaktakuchela in 1961. Then he began to act in more villainous roles. He was always a modern anti-hero who spoke English. In the 1990s, he appeared in more character roles. His most famous movies are C.I.D Nazir, John Jaffer Janardhanan, Swanthamevide Bandhamevide, Joseph Chacko in Lisa, KG Menon Manushya Mrugam, and Mamangam; over 350 films since 1960-2012.

On April 14, 1925, Thomas John was born in Changanassery, Kerala. He has four younger brothers and three sisters, with the youngest brother Prem Prakash being an actor. He went to school at Sacred Heart Public School in Kottayam for his primary education. He was born in Cochin and spent the first 30 years of his life there. His right leg was amputated due to diabetes in 2003. He married Chinnamma, who died before him. They had six children: Elsamma Joseph, Rajan Joseph, Gracy Maliakal, Shaji Joseph, Jasmine Joseph, and Susan Joseph. He lived with his youngest son Shaji Joe in Cochin till his death on 24 March 2012.
