His first film role as an actor was in 1998 Malayalam historical drama, directed by Venu. He played the lead part opposite Manju Warrier, who at the time was the top star of Malayalam cinema. It was Venu’s debut as a director and it won him a National award in this category. Despite positive comments, the film was a commercial failure. The following year, he appeared in two Mohanlal blockbuster films: Ayal Kadha Ezhuthukayanu and Harikrishnans. He’s been a part of many Malayalam films since then.
Despite being unable to break into lead parts, he gained popularity and acclaim through several character roles he played onscreen. He was also in Tamil blockbusters like Piriyadha Varam Vendum, Shahjahan, and Chennaiyil Oru Naal. Apart from a few Malayalam hit TV series such as Sthreejanmam, Pokkuveyil, Amma Manasu, Ivide, Pookkaalam, Mandharam
