Darsheel Safary is a young Indian actor who was born in the same city and in the same month as his friend Aamir Khan. He is known for his work in movies like Like Stars on Earth, where he played a dyslexic child.
Darsheel was born on March 9, 1997, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His father, Mitesh Safary is a jeweler and his mother is Sheetal Safary. He had no acting experience before the movie Taare Zameen Par. As he grew up in Mumbai, he went to a dance academy with Shiamak Davar who is the teacher of dance. He has a younger sister and lives in his hometown in Mumbai with his family.

In 2007, Azhar made his first big acting debut in Taare Zameen Par playing the film’s protagonist Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi. Amol Gupte found Azhar after going to a dance school and seeing hundreds of boys. He finally chose him for the role of Ishaan because he was good at telling stories. In the movie Taare Zameen Par, the character Darsheel had to face a lot of opposition from his school because he would be missing a lot of time at school. In this movie, Darsheel was only nine years old and only about 4 feet tall. He also faced some opposition from other people around him. But there was a problem. Aamir Khan said that he wanted Darsheel to play the character. The director came up with a solution. He met with the school and assured them that Darsheel’s studies would not be hurt by starring in the movie. Before starring, Darsheel danced for Shiamak Davar’s dance troupe. During one of the classes, he saw a poster that read “Hunting for a naughty kid.” If you are selected, you will get to act with Aamir Khan. Amole Gupte spotted him and asked him to go to an audition. He was then selected. Amole Gupte also got Darsheel an Xbox 360 as a birthday gift from Aamir Khan on his 10th birthday in 2007, following the release of the film. He became the youngest nominee for Filmfare Award for Best Actor following its release. He couldn’t make it because Shahrukh Khan won it for Chak De! India.
