Colin Eric Allen is an English blues musician and composer. Colin Allen was born on May 9, 1938, in Bournemouth, Hampshire (now Dorset), England. During the first ten years of his adult life, Allen spent his time working in the field of aircraft engineering. He was inspired to become interested in jazz at the age of 16 and began learning to play drums two years later. For two years, he trained with local drummer Jack Horwood before studying with Philly Joe Jones for a short while.

In 1963, he joined Zoot Money’s Big Roll Band, which included Andy Summers (later of The Police). He was playing at The Bull’s Head, Barnes with the Big Roll Band in London a few years ago.
