Annu Kapoor Biography
He made a name for himself as a film and television artist, as well as a host in the industry. From 1993 through 2006, he rose to prominence as the host of the Indian musical reality show Antakshari. Kapoor was born in Itwara, in the city of Bhopal in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Annu, who grew up in a humble home, worked odd jobs before joining his father’s theatre business and eventually the National School of Drama. He began his film career with a small role in Shyam Benegal’s Mandi, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, and Smita Patil, which was offered to him after the director was struck by his performance in the play “Ek Ruka Hua Faisla,” in which the young Annu played a 70-year-old man!
Annu Kapoor married Anupama, in 1992. The couple had three sons together before splitting up after a few years of marriage and remarrying in 2008. After his first divorce, Annu married Arunita Mukherjee and they had a daughter Aradhita Kapoor, but the pair eventually divorced. When it comes to his personal life, Annu Kapoor has previously revealed that his two closest pals in the profession are Satish Kaushik and Rumi Jaffery.
Annu Kapoor is also a director who won the V. Shantaram Award for Best Director in 1994 for his work on the film Abhay. In addition, the film earned him a National Film Award for “Best Children’s Film” in 1994. Vicky Donor earned Annu Kapoor a National Award for best supporting actor. Critics praised his performance as Dr. Baldev, and he went on to win five awards, including the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor, the Screen Award for Best Actor in a Comic Role and Apsara Star Guild Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Apsara Star Guild Award for Best Actor in a Comic Role for the same film in the same year.
