He completed his Bachelor of Technology in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Lala Lajpat Rai Institute of Engineering and Technology (Moga, Punjab) in 2004, after completing schooling at Guru Nanak Public School. In an event put on by IIT (Indian Institute of Technology Delhi) in 2004, his team won the Best Design Award.
On July 23, 2017, Shukla who is a self-declared adventure lover ascended the peak of Stok Kangri in pure Alpine style with his brother, marking his first attempt at mountaineering. In 2016, he and his brother rode from Chandra Taal to Bara-lacha la in alpine style for a seven-day trek. He had cycled solo from Manali to Leh in six days the previous year.
He likes to trek and camp out in the woods when he is not shooting or working. On January 4, 2014, while on a trek to Matheran’s Fort Rock Forest in Maharashtra, he became trapped on a ledge of a rock face and had to be rescued by a team of rock climbers. He said that in the days ahead, he had mentally prepared himself for weeks of survival, and that he even kept urine around for potential emergencies.
Shukla began his career in the Indian television industry with Jersey No. 10 in 2007. In 2008, he appeared in Colors TV’s Jaane Kya Baat Hui as Shantanu. In 2009, he acted as Vikram, the love interest of Zee TV’s Chotti Bahu. He made his film debut in 2010, when he was cast in Star One’s Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi opposite Drashti Dhami as Dev, who married the lead Geet but then abandoned her.
In 2013, he acted in Zee TV’s comedy series Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan as a minor role. He had a small role in the 2016 film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania as well. He made his Bollywood debut with the film Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans, which was released in October 2014 and starred Nora Fatehi. He briefly appeared as Vikram in an episode of MTV’s Big F in December 2014.
