Sharad Joshi was an Indian poet, writer, satirist, and dialogue and scriptwriter in Hindi films and television. He was given the Padma Shri in 1990. His published works include Parikrama, Kisi Bahane, Tilasm, Jeep par Sawar Illian, Raha Kinare Baith, Meri Shreshth Rachnaye, Dusri Satah, Yatha Sambhav, Yatra Tatra Sarvatra, and Pratidin.
Sharad Joshi Biography
Sharad Joshi was born on May 21, 1931, in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh to Sriniwas and Santi Joshi, the family of two sons and four daughters. Sharadop writing was his favorite pastime as a kid. In Indore, Sharad Joshi met and married Irfana Siddiqi (later Irfana Sharad) in the late 1950s, when he was writing for newspapers and radio. She came from Bhopal and had a career as a radio presenter and theater actress.
He has penned a slew of political, social, cultural, and economic satires such as Atha Shri Ganeshaya Namah, Billyon ka Artha Shastra, Buddhijivi, Sahitya ka Mahabali, Adhyaksha Mahodaya. Joshi was a founding member of the Filmistan Board of Directors in the early 1960s. In 1973, he began his career with Doordarshan as a producer and retired in 1991.

Sharad Joshi, like his father, wrote comedic pieces. His play Ek Tha Gadha Urf Aladad Khan is well-known for its satirical and timeless humor.
The Madhya Pradesh government established a prize in his honor, the “Sharad Joshi Samman”, which is given each year to individuals for outstanding achievement in the field of writing. It includes a cash award of Rs. 51,000 and a citation.
Neha Sharad has held Shradotsav, a literary and performing arts event (which includes both plays and a book fair), in memory of her father’s achievements.
On January 22, 1994, Sharad Joshi had a heart attack that resulted in his paralysis from the waist down. He died of cardiac arrest on December 28, 2009.
