Eswari Rao’s Telugu-language feature debut was Intinta Deepavali (1990), which she starred in with Rajendra Prasad. She rose to prominence in Telugu with the movie Rambantu, which she co-starred in alongside Rajendra Prasad. Janani debuted in Tamil as Kavitha. She made her official debut in 1997 when she was credited as Easwari Rao in Raman Abdullah, directed by Balu Mahendra. She didn’t like the role in Koottaali and opted out of it. She appeared in Manoj Kumar’s film Guru Paarvai (1998) after that. She also had a part in Bharathiraja’s Siragugal Murivadhilai, which was canned when production began. She played Prasanth’s sister in Tamil film Appu (2000). She was praised for her work as Selvi in Kaala (2018), which she appeared in.
