Sylvester Stallone rose to fame in the 1976 sports drama Rocky, about a poor fighter, Rocky Balboa, challenging heavyweight champion Apollo Creed.

In 1978, Stallone made his directing debut and appeared in Paradise Alley, a family drama in which he played one of three brothers who become professional wrestlers. In 1973, he appeared in Norman Jewison’s F.I.S.T., a social drama about a warehouse employee who becomes involved in labor union leadership, where he plays James Hoffa, an inspiration for Hoffa’s character on The Team (which aired from 1975 to 1978).

In 2000, Stallone starred in Get Carter, a retelling of the 1971 British movie of the same name. According to critics and audiences, however, it was poorly received.
