He was trained as a classical vocalist and studied music under his father Chandan Dass and Bhavdeep Jaipurwale. But he preferred performing to singing. He is the son of a well-known ghazal artist. His father’s name is Chandan Dass, a renowned ghazal singer. Namit’s mother’s name is Yamini Dass. Namit’s maternal grandfather, K. Pannalal, was a renowned musician who worked for Delhi All India Radio and Doordarshan. His paternal grandmother’s brother is a well-known Punjabi music composer, and his other uncle Ajay K Pannalal is a prominent Punjabi film director. Namit Vyas is married to Shruti Vyas, who is also an actress and Sumeet Vyas’ younger sister.

• Namit Das began his career in the theater. Despite being a trained classical singer, he chose to pursue acting in order to realize his ambition. He made his debut on the stage with Shadow Box, which was directed by Nadira Khan, in 2002. In the same year, Atul Kumar staged another play called Noises off. He has performed over 14 plays to date.
