He has acted in a number of short films, including Rakesh Mehta’s Darpok, which was shown at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, as well as Siddhartha: The Buddha, where he played Devadutta.He played Ravi Shastri, the former Indian cricket captain, in Mohammad Azharuddin’s biopic, Azhar. In 2010 he was chosen to play a gay character in Star One’s Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, as Shaurya Khanna. From 2011 to 2014, he played Vikram Rathi in Star Plus’ longest-running show Diya Aur Baati Hum. He was a celebrity contestant in India’s version of the reality show, Bigg Boss, in its eighth season. He lasted 19 weeks before emerging victorious.
Gulati has hosted a show for MTV called MTV Big F.
He has appeared in films such as Darpok, Siddhartha-The Buddha, Azhar, Behen Hogi Teri, Virgin Bhanupriya, and Radhe.
