Amala Akkineni (Amala Mukherjee) was born on September 12, 1968, in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. She is a social activist and a Bharat Natyam dancer by trade. She is known for her contributions to Tamil Cinema and Telugu Cinema. She’s acted in a few Malayalam, Kannada, and Bollywood films as well. She co-founded an organization called The Blue Cross of Hyderabad in Hyderabad with her husband Rajiv Dhirajan.

She got her BFA from Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts, which was founded by Rukmini Devi Arundale. She performed live shows all around the world after graduation. It was T. Rajender who persuaded Amala to join and act in films. He came to Amala’s house with an offer to star in his next film, which would be completely based on Bharat Natyam. In 1992, she married Akkineni Nagarjuna, a Telugu Film Actor, and they had a son 1994 named Akkineni Akhil.
She has won many accolades throughout her career, including “Filmfare Award for the Best Malayalam Actress” for the film “Ulladakkam.” She retired from acting in 1992 after getting married to concentrate on her personal life, but she returned in 2012 with the movie “Life is Beautiful.” In 2013, she received both the “Filmfare Award for the Best Supporting Actress” and the “Cine MAA Award,” which go to recognize outstanding actresses.
